A pair of undocumented immigrants residing in Fairfax County filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government on Nov. 21 for its decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that allowed thousands of undocumented young people to live, work, and attend school in this country.
Represented by the Legal Aid Justice Center, Nurimaro Park, 26, of Fairfax and Jonathan Alvarenga Recinos, 19, of Alexandria, filed a legal complaint with the U.S. District Court in Alexandria arguing that the U.S. violated their due process by failing to provide advance notice of a key change made to DACA when U.S. Attorney General Sessions and acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke announced its termination on Sept. 5.
