Spanish police have broken up an global human trafficking network involved in smuggling hundreds of Iranian illegal immigrants into Britain on commercial flights.

The operation involved the Spanish National Police, Britain’s Immigration Enforcement, the Portuguese Immigration and Borders Service (SEF), and Europol.
The human-trafficking band leader, who was operating from the southern city of Malaga and used Spain as a transit country, was arrested in late June at London Heathrow airport as he was about to board a flight to Brazil to evade justice.
A total of 101 people were arrested in the operation, Europol announced in a Thursday statement.
