Speaker E. Suzanne McAuliffe abruptly adjourned the Assembly of Delegates meeting on Wednesday, cutting off testimony from the public on one of the most controversial issues facing Americans today.

McAuliffe perceived she had been blindsided by a hearing room of individuals who wanted to speak to one of the items on the county’s agenda. Provincetown Delegate Brian O’Malley had submitted a resolution asking that the Assembly “not support” an application by the Barnstable County Sheriff’s office to enter into an agreement with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division (ICE) that would enable the county to identify undocumented aliens and hold them for ICE.
The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners last month sent a letter of support for the sheriff’s application. Perhaps
