SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: The Ulster County Legislature, by a 14-8 vote, defeated a resolution to help protect undocumented immigrants from deportation. The largely symbolic resolution said law enforcement officials wouldn’t have to report undocumented immigrants to federal agencies unless they have been convicted of a crime and have a criminal record or have been convicted of a felony. Ulster County Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum said the resolution wouldn’t have changed his office policy, which is to notify federal authorities if a person born outside of the U.S is incarcerated.
