COLUMBUS – A Pickaway County man on Wednesday pleaded guilty to helping smuggle undocumented immigrants as part of an operation that made more than $250,000 in six years.

When approached by investigators in March, Bromley D. Hackney, 57, of Ashville, allegedly said he “knew that this day would come” and had been planning to inquire whether there was an ongoing investigation.
His suspicions likely stemmed from a December 2016 incident where Hackney was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint near Laredo, Texas.
